Safety Geeks, Now In 3D!!!

I have to admit, I'm personally not a big fan of the web series "Safety Geeks: SVI." The satirical comedy is a little too crass for my entertainment tastes. But I willingly admit, as far as online media consumers go, I am in the minority. One thing I do admire about the series is that it has done an excellent job of utilizing multi-media technology to its fullest - green screens, 3D animation, etc. It is definitely one of the sleekest-looking shows on the web. Now, the series is pushing the technological envelope even further, becoming one of the first web series to go 3D.
Produced by Pith-e Production in Los Angeles, "Safety Geeks" focuses on a team of "Safety Specialists" that, in the course of "investigating" safety accidents in the workplace CSI-style, often create more and even worse accidents. The series is mostly shot against a green screen and uses digitally animated "sets." (Wow, that's a lot of quotation marks for one paragraph!) In some ways, it already feels 3D even though it is 2D. But that is about to change.
According to PR.com, "The 3-D process employed in Safety Geeks: 3D will not be the traditional red and blue glasses techniques dating back to the 1950's, but instead it will take advantage of the cutting edge, polarized stereoscopic processing similar to that used in a certain wildly successful sci-fi feature film."
Pith-E is already fielding offers from 3D platforms interested in distributing the series. It will be interesting to see where this new media 3D world will go. But mostly, I just want to see what 3D looks like on the web. Now THAT is COOL!
