What You Expect:
Flashy cars. Hot chicks. Bad men doing nasty things. And lots of impossible, skin of the teeth escapes.
What [The Bannen Way] Delivers: 3 Vincent Vegas (out of five) ‘cos it Entertaining.
This is a very slick web series, which one would expect having Sony Pictures as a partner. The production value is very high, the special effects, editing, sound, as well as props, cars and abun-dance of eye-candy actresses, makes this very easy on the eyes. The titles, and introduction to each of the named characters has a definite Guy Richie feel.
The show has an interesting story, a family torn between the law and crime, with the main character caught square in the middle. Mark Gantt (Neal Bannen) doesn’t quite have the looks to be pulling off so many panties, with little more than a sideways look and a smile, though he does have a very nice Jaguar. Plus, his tech guy, Zeke, has some tech that’s just too advanced for someone working with an up-and-coming con-man. Aside from those distractions, it is a fun watch, especially the rival brothers, played by Michael Ironside (Chief Bannen) and Robert Forester (Mr. B).
The Last Word This is enjoyable if you like gangster/caper type films. Keep your expectations set to made-for-tv movie, and you’ll not be disappointed.
